In a chilling act of violence, a 27-year-old man, Darshan Deepak Shinde, was stabbed to death in broad daylight by four men in the Laxmi Chirag Nagar area of Thane West on Thursday evening. The Thane City Police confirmed the arrest of two of the accused as of Friday.
According to Senior Inspector Rajkumar Wackchoure, the incident occurred while Darshan was seated on a public bench. Four men approached him, and while one held his hand, another fatally attacked him with a sharp weapon. The remaining attackers allegedly threatened bystanders and local vendors to ensure silence, asserting their dominance in the area.
The accused have been identified as Aryan Gadhiwal (20), Tushar Nirukhekar (24), Akash Shinde (28), and an individual known only as ‘Bhal’ (20). While Nirukhekar and Akash Shinde have been apprehended, the others are currently on the run.
An FIR has been lodged under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 103 (murder), Section 352 (intentional insult), and Section 351 (criminal intimidation), among others.
Authorities have launched a search operation for the remaining suspects. “Efforts are being made to locate and arrest all absconding individuals swiftly,” stated a police officer involved in the case.
This murder has sparked public outrage and concerns over rising street violence in urban parts of Maharashtra. The investigation is ongoing.
