The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested Aryaman Patnaik, a 23-year-old engineering student, after seizing synthetic drugs worth Rs1.5 lakh, including LSD, from a parcel that arrived from abroad.
Patnaik, originally from Bhubaneswar and currently studying in Greater Noida, was caught red-handed when authorities intercepted the suspicious package. This marks the first known case of LSD trafficking in Odisha’s capital.
The potent drug, LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide), is known for its mind-altering effects and severe health risks. Often appearing as paper tabs or chips placed on the tongue, LSD can cause hallucinations, insomnia, high blood pressure, and even cardiac issues upon repeated use.
NCB officials highlighted the growing threat of synthetic drugs infiltrating urban youth circles and emphasized the need for vigilance. The case raises serious concerns about how these narcotics are being imported and distributed, and how young individuals are falling prey to addiction.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine the wider network involved in the trafficking operation.
