Mainpuri police have busted a major fake army recruitment scam, arresting two key accused, Arvind Kumar Pandey and Sumitra Senapati, who cheated over 400 youths. The duo promised Indian military jobs but instead provided low-paying security guard positions.
The Kishani police station, aided by a surveillance team, uncovered a fake training centre near Bidhuna crossing, where the accused operated. Each victim was charged between Rs 2 to 3 lakh under the pretense of securing government or army jobs.
Police seized fake documents, uniforms, ID cards, and other materials used to deceive the victims. Superintendent of Police Ganesh Prasad Saha said many victims came from states like Telangana, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Odisha.
Arvind Pandey falsely claimed to be a retired army captain and doctor, using the national emblem, counterfeit medical certificates, lease agreements, and rubber stamps to legitimize the scam.
Pandey’s criminal record includes frauds linked to a toothpaste brand and a Miss India contest. The gang operated across multiple states, with similar fake centres found in Noida and Uttarakhand.
The scam was exposed after a Telangana youth lodged a complaint, revealing that around 300 to 400 people had been duped. Police investigations are ongoing to identify all victims.
