Tirap, Arunachal Pradesh: Two women drug peddlers were arrested in Tirap district on Sunday, following coordinated operations by the local anti-drug squad, CRPF, and Assam Rifles, police said.
In the first operation, officers acting on a tip-off set up a naka near Thinsa village. Chumtoi Mossang, a resident of Lazu village, was intercepted, and 142 grams of heroin valued at Rs 4.80 lakh were recovered. The contraband was concealed in 12 soap cases, according to Tirap SP Aditya.
In a separate operation, police and Assam Rifles apprehended 33-year-old Nyamyang Namet, also from Lazu village. Authorities recovered 82.5 grams of heroin hidden in seven soap cases, according to a DIPRO report.
Combined, the two operations led to the seizure of 224.5 grams of heroin, reflecting the intensified efforts of Arunachal Pradesh police to curb narcotics trafficking in the region.
The arrests were part of a larger crackdown on drug networks operating in Tirap district, with coordinated efforts between local police, CRPF, and Assam Rifles.
