Arunachal police have arrested three individuals involved in a series of thefts targeting parked vehicles at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) after sustained surveillance and investigation.
The case came to light when TRIHMS authorities filed a complaint on November 19, reporting repeated thefts within the hospital premises. Using CCTV footage, police identified one suspect, Md. Anwar Hussain (29), who was later found pretending to be a patient on a hospital ward bed in an attempt to evade arrest. He was apprehended by Ct. Ganesh Upadhyay of the TRIHMS Police Outpost.
Interrogation led to the arrest of two more accomplices, Md. Sheikh (33) and Jakir Hussain (20), from Panchayat Colony. The operation was conducted by a team led by SI Vivek Linggi, SI Niri Rama, and HC Lham Tsering.
During questioning, the accused revealed their modus operandi: targeting randomly parked vehicles left unlocked or with windows half-open, stealing cash and valuables. Their thefts spanned marketplaces, hospitals, offices, and residential parking areas. A fourth accomplice is reportedly still absconding.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Nyelam Nega urged the public to stay vigilant, secure vehicles properly, and report suspicious activity immediately by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112.
