In a significant operation, the Arunachal Pradesh Police have arrested Sunil Baglary in Guwahati for allegedly masterminding a large-scale financial fraud targeting contractors. Baglary, who had been evading capture for several days, was apprehended after investigations into his activities revealed his involvement in multiple fraudulent schemes.

Baglary is accused of forging the signature of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to carry out a series of fraudulent activities aimed at embezzling substantial amounts of money. Reports indicate that he issued fake work orders for various government projects in West Bengal, deceiving contractors with promises of lucrative deals. One contractor, hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, reportedly lost Rs 1.50 crore in this scam.

Following the complaint from the victim contractor, the Doimukh Police Station in Arunachal Pradesh registered a case, leading to an extensive investigation. Baglary was tracked down and arrested from his hideout in Guwahati.

Investigations further revealed that Baglary had ties with several government officials in West Bengal, which may have facilitated his fraudulent activities. He has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 120(B) (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 468 (forgery), 471 (using a forged document), 420 (cheating), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

The police are continuing their investigation into Baglary’s activities, and further arrests are possible.
