A young man, Arun Nishad, was allegedly shot dead by friends in Tenuiya village, Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday evening, sparking protests and a temporary road blockade by villagers.
Police reports indicate that Arun was lured out of his home around 4 PM by an acquaintance, Vishal. Vishal, along with Devendra and other associates, led him to a nearby field where a dispute escalated, resulting in Arun being fatally shot.
The incident triggered outrage among local residents, who blocked the Gorakhpur–Maharajganj road for approximately 30 minutes, demanding swift police action. The blockade was lifted after authorities assured timely investigation and arrests.
Police have identified Vishal and Devendra as primary suspects, with further investigation ongoing to apprehend others involved in the killing.
