Hyberabad Cyber Crime Police have registered two separate cases of online travel booking fraud over the past three days, with losses amounting to over Rs14 lakh.
In the first case, Taduri Rammohan Reddy, a trader from Kompally, filed a complaint on Saturday. He alleged that he and three friends were cheated of Rs9 lakh while booking an international tour package for their families to Malaysia and Vietnam.
Reddy stated that payments were made via net banking, digital wallets, and credit cards to Arun Kumar, who claimed to represent a travel agency operating under the name TripByFly.com. The accused provided fake flight tickets, forged hotel reservations, and a bogus GSTIN. After receiving the full payment, Arun Kumar reportedly ceased all communication.
In the second case, registered on Sunday, Rishabh Nath of Kokapet reported being defrauded while trying to book accommodation at a beach resort in Goa. He encountered a similar modus operandi involving fake confirmations and loss of money during the online transaction.
Cyberabad Police have launched investigations into both incidents and are working to trace the individuals behind the fraudulent websites and payment accounts. Authorities are urging the public to verify travel agencies before making online payments.
