AUSTIN, Texas — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries at Austin parks and a series of related financial crimes, the Austin Police Department announced Thursday.
Armynie White, 22, and Tyrique Young, 24, were taken into custody by the APD North Metro Tactical Unit following weeks of investigation.
Young was arrested on a warrant for credit or debit card abuse tied to banking cards stolen from a vehicle at the Bull Creek Trailhead on Oct. 8. When officers detained him, they found property reportedly stolen from another vehicle burglary at Mount Bonnell on Nov. 2. The item was recovered, and additional charges are expected.
White was arrested during a traffic stop in the Mueller area after she allegedly gave officers false identification. She was charged with failure to identify as a fugitive and was found to have 17 active warrants from multiple agencies, including six APD charges for credit card or debit card abuse.
Her additional warrants include allegations of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, identity fraud, vehicle burglary, escape during arrest, organized criminal activity, and failure to appear. White had been arrested earlier this year on similar charges and is currently held on $90,000 bond, according to county records.
Police say dozens of Crime Stoppers tips helped track White’s location.
Both suspects may face more charges as the investigation continues.
