In a disturbing incident, an army jawan identified as Kapil Bagul was arrested on Friday for allegedly murdering his wife, Sharda Bagul (37), at their residence in Dhule. The case came to light after Bagul took his unconscious wife to a private hospital on Thursday evening, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Following the incident, Bagul informed his wife’s brother, prompting family members to rush to the hospital. Upon noticing injury marks on Sharda’s body, her relatives accused Bagul of murder and alerted the police.
The body was sent to Hiray Medical College for a postmortem, which revealed “poisoning associated with head injury.” Police officials confirmed that the report aligns with foul play.
Sharda’s family alleged a history of domestic abuse since the couple’s marriage in 2010. They stated that Bagul had been pressuring Sharda for Rs 2 lakh and that the issue had reached the police and women’s grievance cell last year. Despite past troubles, Sharda had recently reconciled with Bagul.
Based on a complaint filed by Sharda’s brother, a case of murder was registered, and Kapil Bagul was taken into custody by Paschim Deopur Police. His current army posting is in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, and he was on leave in Dhule when the incident occurred.
Further investigation is ongoing.
