LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) identified 32-year-old Armond Langford as the suspect in Friday’s home invasion and bank robbery in St. Matthews.
According to police, Langford forced a mother and her two children into their Mercedes SUV at knifepoint and drove to the PNC Bank on Shelbyville Road. There, he robbed the bank’s drive-thru teller before fleeing. During the ordeal, the mother was stabbed in the abdomen and rushed to UofL Hospital for emergency surgery; she is expected to survive. The children were unharmed.
Officers apprehended Langford near the Best Buy after a chase where he attempted to climb a fence. LMPD Chief Wilkerson confirmed the arrest came after a tip about Langford’s location.
Langford confessed to the robbery and disclosed involvement in previous crimes since 2018, including armed robberies at Walgreens, Circle K, and McDonald’s.
Notably, Langford was released early last year after serving only five months of a 14-year sentence for multiple robberies and burglary, due to a shock probation order. His attorney cited mental health struggles, including paranoia and personality disorders. Under the probation terms, Langford was required to participate in an Intensive Outpatient Program and be under strict supervision.
Langford faces charges including robbery, kidnapping, and assault as police continue their investigation.
