GREENWOOD, Ind. — Deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an armed robbery that took place on the 400 block of San Marcos Drive in Greenwood, early Sunday morning, before 2:15 a.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, the robbery involved three juvenile victims. Two of the children had arranged to meet a person to purchase illegal narcotics. Upon entering a car owned by the dealer, two men pulled out guns, threatened the children, and proceeded to rob them.
One of the victims was physically assaulted by being punched in the face, and his belongings were taken during the incident.
As deputies investigated, they tracked the suspects to a home on the west side of Indianapolis, near Morris Street, where they spotted Joseph A. Goodwin, 20, and Cooper Nelson, 20.
The men were arrested and are facing multiple criminal charges, including robbery and theft. Both were taken to the Johnson County Jail.
Sheriff Duane Burgess expressed his concern, saying, “These juveniles are incredibly lucky this situation didn’t end in tragedy. With the rising number of homicides and gun-related incidents occurring just north of Johnson County, we must remain vigilant.” He added, “This kind of behavior is unacceptable in our community. We are committed to enforcing all laws, not just selective ones, to protect our residents.”
The investigation is ongoing.
