In a major breakthrough, the Arki police have arrested Sher Mohammad (41) from Nalagarh, seizing a significant amount of contraband, illegal ammunition, and cash from his residence. The arrest followed an ongoing investigation into a drug peddling case.
Solan ASP Rajkumar Chandel confirmed that Sher Mohammad was presented before an Arki court and remanded into police custody. The raid, carried out on the evening of January 4, led to the recovery of over 6 grams of heroin, 1.137 kg of poppy husk, 14 unlicensed bullets, 10 mobile phones, and Rs 39,000 in cash. Sher Mohammad now faces charges under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. Authorities are also reviewing his criminal history.
This arrest highlights the growing issue of illegal arms in the Nalagarh industrial belt, an area that has seen several similar cases in the past year. Chandel explained the operation, detailing how a Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Solan district police intercepted a vehicle (HP-64C-1635) at a naka in Muqaam Ladhi on January 4. The vehicle’s occupants, Akshay Kumar (28) from Tukadi village, Kunihar, and Bhawani Singh (25) from Badog village, Arki, were found with 9.20 grams of heroin.
The investigation is ongoing, and further raids are expected to dismantle the drug network operating in the region.
