Arjun Chunara Arrested for Theft to Cover Brother’s Medical Expenses

History-sheeter arrested after stealing valuables worth Rs 13.96 lakh.

Maninagar police arrested 20-year-old Arjun Chunara on Saturday for allegedly stealing cash and valuables worth Rs 13.96 lakh from a plywood trader’s residence in Sarvodaya Society, Vrajraj Bungalows. The theft occurred on Thursday night when the accused entered the house through an open door and stole the valuables. The police were able to identify him through CCTV footage, leading to his arrest in Isanpur.

Chunara, a history-sheeter with previous arrests for housebreaking and vehicle thefts, admitted to committing the crime to pay for his brother’s medical expenses. In 2024, he was detained under the PASA Act and previously sent to Bhuj Jail. The police continue to investigate his past crimes.
