Saharanpur police have apprehended four individuals—Arjun, Robin, Vijay Sagar from Biharigarh, and Shariq from Uttarakhand—for allegedly orchestrating a fake death plot to cover up a murder, officials said on Sunday.
Investigations revealed that Arjun, already facing charges of rape, hatched the scheme to evade impending sentencing. The plot unraveled when authorities discovered a burnt vehicle with a charred body between Chorkhurd and Chandpur.
Police said that Arjun and his associates targeted Rohit, a debtor, as part of a longstanding financial dispute. To cover up the murder, they fabricated the circumstances to make it appear as a fatal accident.
Arjun’s eventual capture exposed the larger conspiracy, involving deception, murder, and monetary grievances. The other three accused—Robin, Vijay Sagar, and Shariq—are also in custody as the police continue to investigate the case and uncover the full extent of the plot.
Authorities have confirmed that further interrogation and forensic examination of the crime scene are ongoing to identify any additional conspirators and verify the sequence of events.
