SOUTH FLORIDA — A South Florida man has been arrested on multiple high-level fraud and theft charges involving alleged financial losses exceeding six figures, according to an arrest report released Thursday evening.
The suspect, Areeb Jawed, identified as a white male, was taken into custody under Report No. 564582, filed by an agency listed as 99–Other, indicating involvement outside a standard municipal law enforcement department.
Authorities allege Jawed is connected to a scheme involving defrauding to obtain property valued at $50,000 or more, grand theft exceeding $100,000 or involving law-enforcement-related damage, and filing a false statement or claim for payment.
Officials have not released specific details about how the alleged fraud was carried out, the number of victims involved, or the duration of the suspected activity. The arrest report also did not include the date of the alleged offenses or Jawed’s date of birth.
Under Florida law, fraud and grand theft charges involving high dollar amounts are among the most serious financial crimes and may carry substantial prison sentences and financial penalties if a conviction is obtained.
As with all criminal cases, the charges remain allegations, and Jawed is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The Boca Raton Tribune will continue to monitor court filings and official statements and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
