MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Justice was served in Mobile County after a jury found Ardis Perez guilty of the 2021 double homicide of Dwan Williams and Andre Carter.

On November 21, 2021, Perez was traveling on Interstate 10 when he shot into the vehicle that Williams and Carter were in, resulting in their tragic deaths. According to Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood, the jury’s verdict marked a significant step in holding Perez accountable for the senseless killings.

As part of the case, Perez’s co-defendant, 34-year-old Keith Richmond, pleaded guilty to the murders and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Richmond’s trial was set to take place immediately following Perez’s, but his guilty plea put an end to the proceedings.

“This case was hard-fought and speaks to the dedication and tenacity that our prosecution teams have for our victims,” said District Attorney Blackwood.

Perez is scheduled for sentencing on April 17, where he will face the consequences of his actions. The guilty verdict and plea offer a sense of justice for the victims’ families and the community.
