Anjuna Police have arrested Archit Sangelkar, a 21-year-old photographer from Porvorim, in connection with a serious hit-and-run accident that took place on Tuesday evening in Siolim, North Goa.
According to police reports, Sangelkar was driving a Mercedes-Benz when he allegedly hit Judith Fernandes, 37, near Sao Joao Chapel in Gudem, Siolim. Fernandes, a pedestrian, suffered critical injuries.
Shockingly, Sangelkar fled the scene without offering any assistance or calling for medical help, leaving the injured woman on the roadside.
An FIR has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. The Anjuna Police have also seized the car involved in the accident.
Further investigation is underway to determine whether reckless driving, negligence, or any other offenses under BNS or MV Act apply.
