SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (WRGB) — Three men were arrested early Monday morning after allegedly stealing used cooking oil from a business on Saratoga Avenue in South Glens Falls.
The business owner, alerted by a live feed from his surveillance camera, quickly notified authorities after spotting suspicious activity near his oil tank.
Police say one suspect, Arcelio Eusebio-Cruz, 42, of West Hazelton, PA, cut a security cable on a tank of used cooking oil. He and two accomplices, Joshua Lopez-Reyes, 20, and Luis Portes-Rodriguez, 25, both of Haverstraw, NY, then pumped the oil into a container in their van. Officers intercepted them as they attempted to flee the scene.
Charges and Legal Actions:
Arcelio Eusebio-Cruz: Charged with misdemeanor petit larceny and criminal mischief. He was released on an appearance ticket.
Joshua Lopez-Reyes: Held on a warrant from Pike County, PA, and classified as a fugitive from justice. He is currently in the Saratoga County Correctional Facility pending extradition.
Luis Portes-Rodriguez: Turned over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department for an active warrant.
Police also seized the unregistered van used in the theft, along with its contents. All three suspects are due to appear in Moreau Town Court later this month.
