In a significant crackdown on illegal railway ticketing, the RPF Dadri team apprehended Arbaz Alam, who was engaged in the black-marketing of railway e-tickets. Operating from Sector-18 in Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Alam was discovered to be generating and selling these fraudulent tickets using personal user IDs with the aid of unauthorized software called “GADAR.”
Alam charged customers an inflated fee, ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 above the original ticket price. His operations spanned multiple states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and West Bengal, with WhatsApp serving as the platform for ticket distribution. His arrest followed diligent tracking of his location, leading to a case being filed under Section 143 of the Railway Act at RPF Dadri.
Over the past year, Alam amassed an illegal turnover of approximately Rs 20 lakh, orchestrating a sophisticated scam in the Tatkal ticket booking system.
