The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested Arbaj Khan, a 19-year-old from Bahadurpur Patti Meeran, Alwar, Rajasthan, for allegedly impersonating senior IAS and IPS officers to extort money and damage reputations.

According to officials, Khan created multiple fake Facebook and WhatsApp profiles, claiming to be senior government officials and even CRPF personnel. He used these profiles to send friend requests and then solicit money from the complainant’s friends, colleagues, and relatives.

The accused also misused the complainant’s photographs, further damaging their image by sending inappropriate and misleading messages under the guise of authority figures. His actions not only defamed high-ranking government officials but also misled the public.

The Cyber Crime Unit linked Khan to two cases in Telangana, both involving identity theft and financial fraud. He manipulated display pictures (DPs), names, and details to appear credible and extract money from unsuspecting individuals.

A police team, led by Inspector N Ramu, cracked the case after thorough cyber forensic tracking.
