KHON KAEN — Police have arrested 22-year-old Apisit after a series of burglaries at a private home in Sila subdistrict, Mueang district, Khon Kaen, resulting in the theft of valuables estimated at 400,000 baht.
The arrests occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on January 19, when officers from Khon Kaen City Police Station detained Apisit. During the same operation, 39-year-old Prachak, who lived with Apisit, was also arrested after testing positive for methamphetamine, leading to separate drug charges.
The investigation began on January 17, when the homeowner reported that multiple visits to their property while they were away had resulted in the theft of several watches, a gold ring, Buddhist amulets, and ten alloy car wheels. CCTV footage helped police identify and track down the suspect.
During questioning, Apisit admitted to committing the thefts, explaining that he had previously worked as a waiter at an entertainment venue in Khon Kaen and knew the victim through deliveries. After being dismissed due to a car accident and unpaid vehicle repairs, he admitted to taking advantage of the homeowner’s absence to repeatedly steal items, which he sold to cover his expenses.
Authorities confirmed that Prachak was not linked to the burglaries but would face charges for methamphetamine use. Apisit remains in custody and will face charges for the thefts.
In an unrelated case last year in Ubon Ratchatani, police arrested a former head waiter who allegedly used a stone to break into a shabu restaurant and steal 1,000 baht.
