ELDERSBURG, Md. — A Randallstown man was arrested Monday following a high-speed police chase and charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reported.
On Dec. 8 around 10:43 p.m., deputies responded to the Walmart Supercenter on Ridge Road for a reported shoplifting in progress. The suspect fled the scene in a blue minivan, prompting a police pursuit along Liberty Road.
Deputies successfully deployed a tire deflation device near Fallon Road, bringing the vehicle to a stop near the Baltimore County line. The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Antowan Theron Evans of Randallstown.
Inside Evans’ minivan, deputies found over $400 worth of stolen merchandise, along with two containers of substances suspected to be cocaine. Additional suspected cocaine was discovered during booking at Carroll County Central.
Evans faces multiple charges, including:
Theft: $100 to under $1,500
Possession of contraband in a place of confinement
Possession of a controlled dangerous substance (not cannabis)
Evans was also issued traffic citations related to the chase. He was denied bail during a Dec. 9 hearing. His trial is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2026, at 1:15 p.m.
