NORFOLK, Va. — A Norfolk man was sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
Court documents state that in September 2021, law enforcement intercepted two packages suspected to contain narcotics en route from Texas to Virginia. Investigators discovered 2.44 pounds of cocaine in the first package but allowed the second to continue to its intended Norfolk address.
On September 9, 2021, after the second package was delivered and left on a front porch, Antonio Deshaka Saunders, 43, retrieved it and placed it in a vehicle. A traffic stop shortly afterward led to the recovery of one kilogram of cocaine.
Saunders was subsequently prosecuted and sentenced, reflecting the severity of his role in the narcotics distribution operation.
