Antonio Riano Sentenced for 2004 Hamilton Bar Murder

by Sophia Bennett

HAMILTON, Ohio — Antonio Riano, 63, was sentenced Monday to 18 years to life after being found guilty of murdering 25-year-old Benjamin Becerra in December 2004 outside the Round House Bar in Hamilton.

A Butler County jury convicted Riano in June after less than an hour of deliberation. He was credited with over 460 days of time served.

The case remained unsolved for years until investigators used social media last year to locate Riano in his hometown in Mexico, where he was employed as a police officer. Federal agents worked alongside local authorities to bring him back to the United States.

Riano’s case gained national attention and was featured on “America’s Most Wanted.”
