ECHOLS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A routine traffic stop in Echols County on May 30 led deputies to seize drugs, firearms, and thousands in cash, resulting in the arrest of Antonio Norwood, 33, of Douglas.
According to Sheriff Randy Courson, deputies from the Echols County Sheriff’s Office pulled Norwood over on Highway 129. During the stop, officers discovered approximately half a pound of marijuana, two firearms, and $2,252 in cash in his possession.
A criminal history check revealed that Norwood has a record of multiple felony convictions. As a result, he was charged with:
Felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Norwood was taken to the Lowndes County Jail following his arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
