LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The Louisville Metro Police Department is seeking additional victims of a man accused of assaulting and stealing from elderly individuals.
According to a social media post from LMPD on Wednesday, Anthony Williams was arrested on Tuesday and has a history of targeting elderly adults for personal gain.
Williams, 40, was previously arrested in 2023 after he followed a 94-year-old World War II veteran home, assaulted him in his driveway, and stole $800 from his wallet. During the investigation, Williams admitted that he had noticed the victim had a large sum of money at a store and had planned the robbery. He had even changed his clothes and car to avoid being identified by the police.
In February 2024, Williams was indicted on robbery charges in connection with this incident and was released on a $10,000 full cash bond while awaiting his pre-trial hearing in January 2025.
On Tuesday, new charges were filed against Williams related to his alleged thefts from elderly victims in their homes. According to police, Williams would knock on doors offering to perform yard work or assist around the house. Once inside, he would steal valuables such as tools, jewelry, and cash. One of the stolen items included a wedding band that belonged to a victim’s deceased wife.
Williams is also known to take the stolen goods to pawn shops. In a police interview, he admitted to committing similar thefts at least 20 times.
In one disturbing incident, Williams used his 6-year-old daughter as a ruse to enter a home, asking for a cup of water for her. While the child drank, Williams entered a bedroom and stole $440 from a wallet.
The police believe there are more victims and are urging anyone who has had items stolen by Williams to come forward.
Williams has been charged with knowing exploitation of an adult, burglary, theft by unlawful taking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
