RAPID CITY, S.D. — Anthony Douglas Sorenson, 38, was sentenced to life in prison Monday morning after being found guilty at trial for distributing a controlled substance that led to a death.
Sorenson addressed the court, maintaining his innocence and stating, “The jury got it wrong.”
The victim’s family was also present during the sentencing. The victim’s father spoke on behalf of the family, saying, “I don’t blame Anthony, I blame the drugs,” and added that he never intended for Sorenson to receive a life sentence.
The sentencing highlights the court’s stance on holding individuals accountable for actions that result in fatal consequences related to illegal drugs.
