In a major crackdown on inter-state narcotics smuggling, sleuths of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Wednesday arrested four key operatives of a drug peddling racket near Dodamafi Turn in Markundi area. The accused were caught red-handed while transporting a large consignment of illegal ganja from Odisha to Banda.
Police seized 80 kilograms of ganja valued at approximately Rs40 lakh, along with two mobile phones, Rs3,310 in cash, and two four-wheelers used in the operation.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ravi Shivhare, Satyaprakash alias Sonu Shivhare, Harish Chandra, and Gangaram Kushwaha, all residents of Banda and Chhatarpur districts.
According to ANTF officials, the group had been operating an organized network, sourcing large quantities of ganja from Odisha and selling it in Banda and neighboring towns. “This is a significant step in our fight against inter-state drug trafficking,” said an officer from the task force.
The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to trace other members of the supply chain.
