Anmol Bhatia Arrested After Dog Killed in Break-In

West Hollywood Burglary Caught on Surveillance Video

by Amelia Crawford

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man accused of breaking into a West Hollywood apartment and killing a resident’s dog has been arrested, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) confirmed Sunday.

Anmol Bhatia was taken into custody around 7 p.m. near Wilshire Boulevard and Elm Drive, though authorities have not yet released details on how he was located or apprehended.

The incident occurred on the night of September 4, when deputies responded to a burglary call in the 1200 block of North Harper Avenue. The apartment resident reported a break-in and said his dog had been left alone during his absence — only to return and find the pet dead.

Surveillance footage from inside the apartment captured the suspect entering shortly after 11:30 p.m. The video reportedly showed the intruder abusing the small dog until it became unresponsive.

Deputies confirmed the animal had died before they arrived at the scene. The case is being investigated as both burglary and animal cruelty.

Further updates from LASD are expected as the investigation continues.
