Two days after the incident, police have arrested a man in connection with the sexual assault of a minor girl inside a private school. The accused has been identified as Anil Saini (35).
Police said Saini was detained on the day of the incident and placed under continuous interrogation before his formal arrest. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gandhi Nagar, Narayan Kumar Bajia, stated that the accused is an alcoholic who resides near the school premises. “Prima facie, the offence appears to be a random act without premeditation,” he said.
Authorities are currently verifying Saini’s criminal antecedents. Police have decided to pursue the case under the ‘case officer’s scheme’, under which a designated officer will closely coordinate with prosecutors, monitor daily court proceedings, and ensure swift trial and stringent punishment.
A senior police official said clear instructions have been issued to build a foolproof case and file an early charge sheet in all cases involving sexual offences against minor girls.
An FIR was registered on Saturday under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police confirmed that forensic examination has been completed and the victim’s statement has been recorded. Her statement before a magistrate is expected to be recorded on Tuesday.
