Ranchi Police have cracked the high-profile murder case of BJP leader Anil Mahato, popularly known as Anil Tiger. Four individuals have been arrested, including the absconding shooter Aman Singh, bringing a major breakthrough in a crime that shocked the city.
According to DIG and SSP Chandan Sinha, the murder stemmed from a long-standing land dispute. The key conspirator, land dealer Devvrat Nath Shahdev of Kishore Ganj, allegedly plotted the assassination due to a conflict over the ownership of 10 acres of land in Gagi Khatanga village under Kanke police station.
The investigation uncovered a total of seven individuals involved in the conspiracy: Devvrat Nath Shahdev, Abhishek Sinha, Rohit Verma, Aman Singh, Zeeshan Akhtar, Manish Chaurasia, and Ajay Kumar Rajak. The crime was executed while the leader was at a hotel in Kanke Chowk.
The murder sparked outrage and led to a city-wide shutdown on March 27, organized by various political and social organizations in protest.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), backed by the police’s technical cell, tracked down Aman after he had been evading arrest for two weeks. Additionally, two others involved in conducting reconnaissance and aiding the plan were also taken into custody.
Police are currently interrogating Sunny Singh, a known criminal from Kishore Ganj, who is on remand. During the interrogation, Rohit Verma initially claimed that the murder was an act of vengeance for the earlier killing of criminal Santosh Jaiswal, which he alleged was orchestrated by Anil Mahato.
