STOCKTON, CA – Former Stockton Unified School District (SUSD) board president Angelann Flores has been sentenced after being found guilty of filing a false insurance claim in connection to a non-district-related car crash.
According to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, Flores received a sentence of two years of informal probation, along with 45 days in county jail — which will be stayed if she successfully completes 120 hours of community service within one year. She has also been ordered to pay restitution and is prohibited from driving without a valid license and auto insurance.
Flores was arrested in April 2024 following an investigation into insurance fraud and theft of public funds. Though she was found not guilty of embezzlement in July 2025, the jury did convict her on the insurance fraud charge.
As a result of the conviction, her position on the SUSD Board of Trustees has been vacated, in accordance with California Government Code section 1770(h).
“Effective immediately, the Trustee position for Area 2 is considered vacant, and Ms. Flores no longer holds any duties or authority related to the SUSD Board of Trustees,” said Board President Kennetha Stevens.
“This vacancy occurs by operation of law and does not require further action or a vote by the board.”
The district emphasized its ongoing dedication to student achievement, staff support, and maintaining public trust as it moves forward.
