MIAMI, Fla. — Two PortMiami employees have been arrested after being caught on camera stealing over $50,000 worth of artwork from a cruise terminal, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO).

Angel Prudhomme, 27, and Tangela Park, 50, both employed as custodians at PortMiami, were taken into custody Thursday morning. They are facing second-degree grand theft charges, while Park is also charged with criminal mischief, authorities said.

The investigation began when port officials alerted the MDSO’s Internal Affairs Public Corruption Section about a possible art theft inside Terminal G. Surveillance footage showed Prudhomme and Park removing artwork, loading it into their vehicles, and leaving the premises.

On May 12, Prudhomme was seen removing mosaic and marble art pieces, hiding them in a stairwell, and concealing them in trash bags to avoid security cameras. The next day, he was seen transferring the artwork into Park’s vehicle.

Officials said 12 of the 24 stolen pieces were damaged due to improper handling. Those pieces were later recovered by the Sea Port General Investigations Unit. The remaining artwork was discovered during a consensual search of Prudhomme’s home and vehicle, where it was also found damaged.

The collection, valued at approximately $50,000, suffered substantial loss. After being read their rights, both suspects admitted to taking the artwork and were booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

“I take individuals using their employment to steal very seriously,” said Sheriff Rose Cordero-Stutz. “Anyone involved in dishonest actions will be held accountable.”
