Texas fugitive caught in Dacono, awaiting extradition

by Sophia Bennett

WELD COUNTY, Colo. — Angel Lozano, 23, a suspect in a Texas murder case, was arrested Monday morning in Dacono, Colorado, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The El Paso County (TX) Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots-fired/aggravated assault call in Fabens, Texas, on March 20. They found 26-year-old Aaron Villa suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Villa later died at a hospital.

Texas investigators, including the Texas Rangers, identified Lozano as a suspect and issued an arrest warrant on July 24. Authorities learned Lozano fled Texas and returned to Colorado.

The U.S. Marshals Service’s Colorado Violent Offender Task Force coordinated with multiple agencies—including the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, and Golden Police Department—to surveil Lozano’s location at a mobile home park near Highway 52 and Glen Creighton Drive.

Lozano was apprehended without incident and booked into Weld County Jail. He now awaits extradition to Texas to face homicide charges.
