Macon, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that occurred Friday night on Rivoli Drive in Macon.
According to a release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Angel Hector Rodriguez of Macon was taken into custody on Monday afternoon after being discharged from a medical facility. He faces multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions, expired license plate, and no valid insurance. Rodriguez is currently being held without bond.
The incident occurred on August 23 at 9:56 p.m. when Rodriguez, driving a Honda Civic, left the roadway near the intersection of Rivoli Ridge Drive, striking multiple trees and a fence. Both Rodriguez and his passenger were transported to Atrium Navicent Health for medical treatment.
The passenger, 31-year-old Devan Fishback, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley confirmed that Fishback’s next of kin has been notified. Rodriguez, the driver, is listed in stable condition.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash.
