Angel Geovanny Martinez Arrested in Canutillo Incident

Faced active warrant for assault on pregnant person

CANUTILLO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 29-year-old man was arrested over the weekend in Canutillo after allegedly resisting arrest and having an active warrant for assault on a pregnant person.

Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Northwest Patrol Station responded to a disturbance call on Friday in the 7100 block of Kayla Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Angel Geovanny Martinez. During their investigation, they discovered that Martinez had an active warrant for Assault on a Pregnant Person.

When deputies attempted to arrest him, Martinez reportedly physically resisted and ignored multiple loud verbal commands. After a brief struggle, deputies were able to subdue Martinez and take him into custody.

He was transported to the El Paso County Jail, where he was booked on:

Assault on a Pregnant Person – bond set at $25,000

Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport – bond set at $2,500

Martinez remains in custody as the case continues to be investigated.
