Andrew Tate and Brother Tristan Arrested in Romania for Trafficking

Andrew Tate, the British influencer and self-proclaimed ‘male rights’ advocate, and his brother Tristan, have been arrested in Romania in connection with a new investigation. On Wednesday, the Tate brothers were detained for 24 hours by DIICOT (the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism) for questioning related to serious charges, including forming an organised criminal group, trafficking minors, sexual relations with a minor, and money laundering.

Authorities issued four search warrants as part of the investigation, although they did not immediately confirm whether the warrants were directly linked to the Tates. According to DIICOT’s spokesperson, a raid took place at their residence, adding to the list of allegations that the brothers have previously been suspected of using deception, including feigning affection, to coerce victims, some minors, into sexual exploitation.

This arrest is not the first for the brothers, who were previously detained in late 2022. They spent three months in a Bucharest detention center before being placed under judicial control, which restricted their movements. In June 2023, they were formally charged with crimes related to sexual exploitation, including forcing women to participate in pornography. Andrew Tate also faces two separate rape charges.

In addition to these allegations, Andrew and Tristan are under investigation by UK authorities for tax fraud. The brothers are suspected of earning roughly €25 million through online ventures and are the subject of a European arrest warrant.

Despite their criminal charges, the Tates maintain their innocence, with Andrew’s lawyer stating they would respond to the new allegations once the indictment is fully revealed. Though Romania is willing to extradite the brothers, their trial in Romania will take precedence and may delay any extradition process for years.

Andrew Tate, who has lived in Romania for several years, is a former kickboxer and has a substantial following online, despite being banned from Instagram and TikTok for misogynistic comments. With nearly 10 million followers on social media X, Tate continues to promote his philosophy, offering advice to men on wealth-building and success, often flaunting his luxury cars and extravagant lifestyle.
