CEDARTOWN, Ga. — A 29-year-old Cedartown man, Andrew Steven Raper, has been arrested in connection with a vehicle break-in and the fraudulent use of stolen financial cards, local authorities confirmed.
According to police reports, the victim—identified only as Brandon—parked his unlocked truck at his workplace around 6:00 a.m. and returned at 10:00 a.m. to find his camo-style zippered lunchbox and wallet missing.
The stolen wallet contained Brandon’s Georgia driver’s license, fishing license, Truist debit card, and a credit card. Upon checking his account, he discovered that the debit card had been used twice that same morning:
7:04 a.m. at Plaza Citgo on West Rome Highway for $15.65
7:35 a.m. at Murphy USA, also on West Rome Highway, for $1.83
Through investigation, police were able to identify Andrew Steven Raper as the suspect. He was taken into custody and is now facing the following charges:
Financial transaction card fraud
Financial transaction card theft
Entering an automobile with intent to commit a crime
Authorities are reminding residents to always lock their vehicles and store valuables out of sight, even in areas that feel familiar or safe.
The case remains under investigation.
