A jury found Andrew Shaw guilty of second-degree murder for orchestrating the 2018 killing of Chris Bagley. Shaw, a convicted drug dealer, was accused of paying two men, Drew Blahnik and Drew Wagner, to carry out the killing.
Over nearly three weeks, the jury heard witness testimonies, including from Bagley’s widow and the two men involved in the murder. Prosecutors said Shaw arranged the killing after Bagley attacked and stole from him. One witness, a friend of Bagley who witnessed his death, testified that he and Bagley had robbed and beaten Shaw months earlier. Shaw admitted to requesting that Bagley be “beat up,” but denied ordering his murder.
Drew Wagner testified that Shaw offered Blahnik $10,000 to kill Bagley and gave him a bag of money after the murder. Investigators found a ledger at Shaw’s property listing items Bagley had stolen.
The prosecution argued that the killing happened during a planned fight after an argument between Wagner and Bagley. Bagley’s body was discovered more than two months later, buried in Wagner’s yard. Bagley’s widow described him as paranoid in his final weeks.
The defense claimed Shaw had no role in the killing and highlighted that everyone involved was under the influence of drugs. They also questioned the credibility of the killers’ testimonies, suggesting they changed stories to secure lighter sentences.
Drew Wagner is serving 47 years, and Drew Blahnik, who stabbed Bagley, is serving 57 years in prison.
