BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man wanted for the 2023 murder of his girlfriend is now in custody.
Andre Weatherspoon has been extradited to Baton Rouge after being arrested in Alabama. He is accused of killing Tonyetta Loveless, who was found dead just one day after her 42nd birthday.
Loveless, described by friends as strong, beautiful, and full of light, had been dating Weatherspoon for six months. The two lived together and had known each other for years.
According to arrest records, the couple was seen arguing and physically fighting at a fast-food drive-thru on the night of November 29, 2023. The fight reportedly continued in the parking lot of their Jones Creek apartment complex. Hours later, Loveless was found dead.
Weatherspoon has a criminal record dating back to 2003, including multiple domestic battery charges. Earlier this month, Crime Stoppers released a post seeking information on his whereabouts. A tip led investigators to Weatherspoon, who was apprehended out of state.
He is now booked in East Baton Rouge Parish on murder charges.
