A man killed his 55-year-old father-in-law, Selvam, over a family dispute near Palani on Tuesday night.
Selvam, a daily wage worker from Kothamangalam near Palani, got into an argument with his son-in-law Anbarasan, 37, a construction worker. The quarrel quickly escalated into a violent fight, during which Selvam sustained severe injuries and collapsed.
Family members rushed Selvam to Palani Government Hospital, where he was declared dead. After learning of Selvam’s death, Anbarasan went into hiding.
Palani Taluk police registered a murder case and traced Anbarasan to a hideout in Palani. He was arrested on Wednesday morning and produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
