In a joint operation, the Hyderabad City Police and the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) apprehended two individuals involved in drug trafficking near Manchirevula, Narsingi, on October 8.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Siram Ananth Kumar (50)
Peruru Veerababu (32)
Officials seized approximately 107 grams of cocaine and other materials, with an estimated street value of Rs7.5 lakh.
Drug Route from Mumbai to Hyderabad
According to police, the duo had transported the cocaine from Mumbai into Hyderabad, likely for distribution within the city. The operation was closely monitored and executed based on specific intelligence inputs.
A third suspect, believed to be the main supplier, Karthikeya Shekar, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace his whereabouts.
Legal Action Under NDPS Act
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, specifically:
Section 27A – Financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders
Section 29 – Criminal conspiracy
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected as the police trace the wider network.
