Bongaon police have arrested a youth, Ananda Roy, in connection with the suspected murder of Chinmoy Dey, his girlfriend’s husband.
Chinmoy’s body was discovered a few days ago in a mango orchard near his in-laws’ residence. Following the discovery, his mother and family alleged foul play, stating that Chinmoy had been in conflict with his wife over her extramarital relationship.
Family sources said that after repeated altercations, Chinmoy’s wife had temporarily left her marital home and returned to her maternal house in Gaighata. A few days ago, Chinmoy went to bring her back, but was found dead the next day.
Based on the family’s complaint, police registered a murder case. Investigations led to the arrest of Ananda Roy on Wednesday. Police are continuing their inquiry to determine the full circumstances and motive behind the killing.
