Anakapalle district police have busted a job fraud scheme in which the accused used a fake audio clip impersonating the chief minister to cheat job aspirants. The arrested persons have been identified as E Srinu, a native of Prakasam district, and Sk Saleem, a resident of Vijayawada.

Anakapalle district police chief Tuhin Sinha said the duo falsely claimed to have high-level connections within the Chief Minister’s Office and promised government jobs to unemployed youth, cheating one aspirant of Rs 12.13 lakh.

The scam came to light when a woman preparing for the DSC (District Selection Committee) exam for government teacher posts was approached by Srinu. He befriended her husband and claimed to have strong ties with senior officials in the CM’s office, promising to secure an SGT (Secondary Grade Teacher) post in the February 2025 DSC recruitment in exchange for Rs 15 lakh.

To gain the victim’s trust, Srinu used a fake audio clip that appeared to be a conversation with the chief minister. When the victims grew suspicious, he arranged a conference call with another person impersonating Bhargav Chowdary, the PA to the HRD minister. The victim paid Rs 12.13 lakh in a few transactions. When the promised job did not materialize, the victim approached Rolugunta police, who launched an investigation and arrested the accused.

The probe also revealed that Srinu is a habitual offender, having collected Rs 14 lakh from two other individuals by promising them jobs in Vijayawada. Police said further investigation is underway to identify any additional victims.
