LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Amy Tarkanian, the former chairwoman of the Nevada Republican Party, was arrested last month in Bradenton, Florida, on charges of driving under the influence.
According to the arrest report, the Florida Highway Patrol discovered Tarkanian slumped over in her car with the vehicle still in “drive.” When the officer woke her, she accelerated and crashed into a parked vehicle. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The report also stated that Tarkanian had White Claw seltzers in her car and exhibited a strong smell of alcohol. Police noted her initial blood alcohol level was 0.278, more than three times the legal limit.
She was arrested and charged with DUI.
Amy Tarkanian is the wife of Danny Tarkanian, the son-in-law of longtime UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, and is known for publicly speaking out after her husband’s loss to Susie Lee in the 2018 Congressional race.
