Delhi Police have arrested two individuals and bound down a third in connection with a Rs3.38 lakh cyber fraud targeting a 42-year-old woman, Ekta Sachdeva. The scam involved promises of high returns through stock market investment schemes.
The accused have been identified as Amulya Sharma and Garvit Sharma, while Sujal Sabharwal, aged 20, has been legally bound down and must appear before investigators when summoned.
Investigators said the victim transferred the money to a mule account, which was later withdrawn through multiple ATMs. Technical surveillance revealed that the account was operated by Amulya Sharma just prior to the fraudulent transfer.
Further investigation uncovered that more than 50 suspicious transactions had been carried out using the same mule account, and the proceeds were later diverted into cryptocurrency.
Amulya Sharma, a BA student studying digital marketing, is reported to be the key operator of over 50 mule accounts nationwide. Garvit Sharma, who studied up to Class 12, allegedly assisted him in managing the accounts. Police are continuing their probe to identify and apprehend other members of the cyber fraud network.
