In a breakthrough development, Amulya Rajbongshi, the prime suspect in the murder of Raju Dey, was arrested by the police on Thursday in Guwahati, Assam. The arrest follows an ongoing investigation into the tragic incident that took place in the Pandu locality.
The police confirmed that Rajbongshi was detained in connection with the brutal murder of Raju Dey, who succumbed to his injuries at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Wednesday. Authorities also recovered the wooden baton used in the crime during their operation.
The chain of events began when Raju Dey’s son, Rajdeep Dey, filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Jalukbari Police Station, accusing Rajbongshi of killing his father. According to Rajdeep’s statement, he received an urgent call from Krishna Saha, a local canteen owner, informing him that his father had been found injured and unconscious near a grocery shop. Saha immediately took the victim to Boripara Hospital before he was referred to GMCH due to the severity of his condition.
Tragically, Raju Dey passed away despite medical intervention. Before his death, he reportedly identified Amulya Rajbongshi as his attacker. Following this, police apprehended Rajbongshi, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details about the case.
