The couple, Lokesh Kumar and Raajiya, have been arrested for allegedly strangling their five-year-old niece, Khushboo, in a bid to seize her family property. Khushboo, who had been living with them after her parents went missing, met her tragic end in Patharkutti village, under Dhanaura Mandi area in Amroha district.
Khushboo’s parents had vanished months earlier, leaving behind a 200-yard plot of land. The couple reportedly planned to claim this land as their own. On Friday, they claimed that Khushboo fell from the roof, but their explanation raised suspicions among the villagers. Police investigations and a post-mortem revealed that Khushboo died from asphyxia caused by throttling, leading to the couple’s arrest. They have confessed to the crime and are now in jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
