The key accused in the Panjabari minor abuse case, Amrin Akhtar Laskar, has been arrested, police confirmed. She was apprehended in Cachar, while her son has also been detained by Dispur Police. Another accused, Baharul Haque Laskar, remains absconding.
Sources said Baharul Haque Laskar, an engineer with the Brahmaputra Board, has not yet been traced by authorities. Amrin Akhtar Laskar has been brought from Cachar to Guwahati for further legal proceedings.
The case had previously shocked the public after a minor domestic worker was reportedly found confined inside a box bed in Panjabari. Police allege that the girl was trapped in the box bed for nearly half an hour by Amrin Akhtar Laskar.
Investigations are ongoing, with police actively working to locate and apprehend the remaining accused.
